Miss Black Sacramento is celebrating its 40th birthday! The pageant was started in 1970 so that African American women had a platform to share their beauty and voice to the Sacramento area.
As Miss Asia Sacramento, the court was invited to be guests at the pageant and to cheer on the contestants. This year the pageant was held at a beautiful community church instead of Sacramento State University to celebrate 40 years of beauty!
The different segments were an opening dance followed by self introductions, talent, and evening gown. 60% of the scoring was based upon the individual judge’s interview two days prior to pageant night. There were special guests’ performers who were all former Miss Black Sacramento ranging from a prestigious opera singer to authors and pastry chefs!
I had a wonderful time and it is always a pleasure seeing new queens crowned!
