On the last day of November, an Asian organization known as the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association had a grand opening in the heart of Natomas, and it was a privilege to be a part of the event.

“The grand opening of the national headquarters was an important step in APAPA’s history and is a culmination of APAPA’s hardwork and advocacy. It is with heartfelt appreciation to see the turnout of sponsors, elected officials, donors, community organization leaders, APAPA members and volunteers. Though the new national headquarters serves as a centerpiece for APAPA chapters, we must remember this organization is here for the community at large and we must work together to achieve unity, so our voices will be heard loud and clear.” Susie Low, APAPA Executive Director”

One of the Princesses from the Miss Asia Sacramento Royal Court, Susan Lin, stood by my side as we greeted guests as they enter the door and associate ourselves with numerous political leaders. We witnessed speeches, distributions of awards, recognitions, and even the red ribbon being cut. I ran into many familiar faces, as well as grew brand new relationships with many others.  On the same night of the event, we were given a chance to take photos ops with Miss Vietnam Sacramento and Miss China! I was serenaded the song Baby by Justin Bieber by a MTAS/MAS fan, and enjoyed every minute of it. I also got to meet and talk to future Miss Teen Asia contestants for 2011! It was a well put on, amazing event. I had a great time and happy to have been a part of it.
