To start the new year off, Miss Asia Sacramento Pageant scholarship foundation was invited to a Vietnamese dinner near the end of January in celebration of the Little Saigon opening a year ago. Christina and Jessica, a princess from each Miss Teen and Miss royal court came with me to support the event. The event was held at Happy Gardens, a restaurant in the Sacramento area, which consisted a full night of dinner courses, music. and entertainment! The whole night, the event was held in Vietnamese and even though Jessica, Christina, and I all happened to speak Vietnamese, it was still a challenge to take in all that was happening. Once we all arrived we were immediately given the task to greet the guest and assist them to their tables. After everyone was seated, we too joined them in the celebration having conversations among others while eating the traditional Vietnamese food. Groups of individuals were brought to the stage in recognition and live presentations were presented after the Chinese New Year dragons paraded around the restaurant. To end the night, I was placed in a small fashion show modeling the Vietnamese costumes. It was sure a long night, but a fun one! Thank you to the Vietnamese community for having us there.
