Tonight, I was given the opportunity to share a memorable experience with Miss Asia Sacramento, Judy Lee and First Princess, Jenny Mo, where we were invited to support our sponsor, APAPA (Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association). APAPA had their 8th Annual Capitol Internship Award Banquet at the Hotel Sheraton in Sacramento, California on June 2, 2012. APAPA is a non-profit and Non-Partisan grassroot organization founded in 2001.
At this dinner, I learned that APAPA provides core services: Civic Engagement, Youth Leadership Development, and Community Services. We also had the opportunity to see our pageant judge, Tom Bhe, who received an award for his great community service. Tom is the Vice President of Community Relations for the APAPA. He is also and Engineering Technical Principal at Aerojet Corporation in Sacramento. Tom received this award as an recognition of his hard work and community service which he put towards APAPA.
Toward the end of the dinner, APAPA were giving out scholarships to scholars with great achievements. All the scholars’ speeches were inspirational and interesting. Education, to me, is important seeing that education helped shaped the world as it is now.
